AUGUST 2010:
Late August brought David’s last year of preschool. This picture was taken on the first day back from summer vacation. Handsome little devil, he is!
I love this picture - the look on his face somehow reminds me of my brother, Jon.
David had his first experience playing soccer. The season went from July through September. Jason got to coach his team. With dad as coach and some of his best friends on his team he had a pretty good time but isn’t convinced that he loves soccer. He thinks he wants to play baseball next year so we’ll see how he likes that!
Water break- his favorite part of the game!
SEPTEMBER:
Early September brought Emily’s first big-girl haircut! What a doll! I was SO scared to cut her hair off but once I did it I wasn’t sure anymore why it had taken me so long to do it! It is so darn cute on her and suits her spunky little personality so well!
September brought…David’s 5th birthday!!!!! Holy cow!!!!
He had a little birthday which was race car themed, but this is sadly the only picture I got because the camera died, besides the fact that I had my hands completely full with ten 4-5 year olds!
Happy Birthday to the coolest 5 year old out there!
Every Fall David’s preschool takes a field trip to the fire station. Emily got to come this year. It was quite the outing. They loved every minute and made out with some pretty good loot!
OCTOBER:
Of course every October brings our annual trip to Pumpkin Land. Nana and Bumpa even got to join us this time! We love having them close by now to share fun activities with!!
Bumpa and Emily being silly!!
I love this picture- such a riot! There’s no hiding that my dad is still a kid at heart!
My sweet babes running their little legs through the corn maze!
Love these faces!
David and Em with Nana and Bumpa!
And of course, what would the Fall season be with out a trip to the Animal Farm at Thanksgiving Point! Emily loved the pony ride this time. She thinks she wants one now!
The kids with their lil’ friend Megan.
Also in October we couldn’t miss out on the fun Halloween festivities at Gardner Village. It’s become a tradition to go spend an afternoon there to see all the witches and enjoy one of the last warm days of the season.
My teensy girl!
Workin’ on their candy apples!
For Halloween David was a trash can(are we surprised?!?) and Emily was a bunny. We made David’s costume- he was very specific about how it needed to look, and Emily’s was used by Jason and his siblings when they were little. It was fun for Emily to get to use it too and she was pretty stinkin’ cute!
CUTEST.BUNNY.EVER!!!!
Trick or Treating in Grandma’s neighborhood.
I don’t think it gets better then a kid as a trash can! People loved it! He got compliments everywhere we went which made him feel so proud. LOVE these kiddos!!!!
DECEMBER:
Emily turned 3!!!
For Emily’s 3rd birthday this year she wanted to have a princess birthday party so we had all her cute lil’ girlfriends over and decorated crown cookies. It was a bit of a fiasco but they loved it.
Mmm! Doesn’t that look …good??
She had been telling me for weeks before her birthday that she wanted a purple cake with pink stars! Don’t judge me- I’m not a professional cake decorator!
Miss Emily modeling her dress- up dress while eating a pretend hamburger! (For her birthday she got dress-up clothes, a tea set and pretend food.)
Getting started with the traditional building of the gingerbread house on Christmas Eve. -Pretty sure there’s usually more eating then building going on.
I have no idea why Emily is making this face!
Beautiful. Who wouldn’t want to live there?!
This is the Milk and cookies and a carrot left out for Santa and Rudolph on Christmas Eve. David drew that picture and insisted I give it to Santa. I told him the next day that I did, but unfortunately when he saw this picture with the leftovers from Santa’s snacking he saw that the picture he drew was still there. He immediately questioned me. Crap!!! I stumbled my way through it and changed the subject really quickly. Apparently I need to pay more attention to little details. Who knew…he’s 5!!

OUT OF THE MOUTHS OF MY BABIES:
We were at Jason’s soft ball game and David was rolling around in the grass. I told him he needed to stop because he was getting grass stain on his clothes. He argued that it was ok that he was getting grass stain. I said, “No it’s not David, it doesn’t come out”, and he replied, “Yes it does mom, you just need that special OxyClean.”!!!
Emily fell off her bike and scraped her knee. While I was putting a band aid on it she said, “Mommy I’m braving.” I said, “You are?!”, “Yeah, I’m brave-ded.”!!
On the way home from picking David up from preschool I asked him if he had a good day. He replied, “Yeah, I saw Nia (his long time crush). She’s my girlfriend and I’m her boyfriend. A while ago we had a fight for some reason but now we’re getting back together.”
David: “Mom, I pretty much know everything.”
Emily: “Grrrr! Mom! Those onions are spicy in my eyes!!” (As I was chopping onions)
David: “Eeeeew!! MOM!!! Emily bless you-ed on me!!!”
Jason was teasing David when he asked if we could use the money in his piggy bank to buy our dinner. David was serious when he replied, “No, I’m saving to buy a garbage truck.”
Emily: “Mom, when can I have kids?” and “Mom, when can I go to beauty school?”
We were watching a show with three sisters who all had braces and Emily asked, "Why do those girls have necklace's on their teeth?"
So most people know about David's obsession with waste management. Well it doesn't stop there! He's equally obsessed with infomercials. He gets sucked in to every item, convinced we should buy it and he's always happy to explain to me why. Most recently it was the "Packit". It's a lunch sac. He told me he needs it for kindergarten because “traditional lunchboxes only keep food fresh for 2 hours.”
Emily is only 3 but she is truly a woman. One morning after trying to decide what to have for breakfast she came to me frustrated and said in a whiny voice, “I don’t know what to have mom, I just want something with chocolate." Ahahaha!! A girl after my own heart!
